Gruppe Petrolio, 2024

Since 2020, Lili Reynaud-Dewar has been developing a long series of films, Gruppo Petrolio. It is a comedy that intricates Pier Paolo Pasolini’s complex unfinished novel Petrolio (written up until his death in 1975 and published years after in 1992) with contemporary discussions and images of climate activism. Gruppo Petrolio is filmed in industrial cities whose economy relies on ecocide activities, such as Grenoble (FR), Stavanger (NO), Houston, TX (US). For her conference at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum in Stavanger Lili Reynaud-Dewar will agglomerate a multiplicity of moving images, documents, archives. She will take the audience on a long story – both personal and societal – of destruction and creation, of collective film production and activism, of Stavanger and Pasolini’s book Petrolio, a novel about masculinity, extractivism, toxicity and the ravages of capitalism.
